Just some of my books. It's getting close to rainy season here in Brisbane, and with the rain comes the constant flooding of my lower level. My lair gets damp. So I have to annually check my collections, to ensure they are safe and that vermin haven't invaded. I've found chests of draws make the best book cases. They keep the dust and most vermin out and allows for easy access.

Some wonderful people I get to meet at the Blind Pig
Recently I participated in the annual tournament to remember a fellow wargamer who passed away - Geoff Jose. I think this is the 7th year? Anyway here are photo's of my opponents, all of them wonderful people.

Gladiator!
Many moons ago I painted some of the many gladiators. I never got very far with them as I needed a solid board to play on. Thanks to BP Laser I was able to get a custom cut and etched board for my gladiator games.
Above are the collection of painted gladiators. Spent ages trying to sort them into their classes, not as easy as it seemed. Still think I got a few wrong.
Close up.
Another close up.
Above is the custom cut and etched board that BP Laser produced for me. Measures 2'x2'. It's great that I can just collapse it after use and carry it anywhere I like. It's on 3mm thick MDF. The hexes are 30mm. Now just have to paint it to get that bloody sand look.
The figures are a mostly Foundry, and are 28/30mm. They are based on 30mm bases and all I did for the base texture was to pour in PVA Glue and Kindergarten Sand with a mix of small pebbles.
Still debating on what rules to run with. To date I have 4 sets which I will have to have a read of and decide which one I like the best. Maybe I'll mesh some of them together and see what I come up with!

HotT: Undead versus Human Imperials
Some time ago I decided that with the changes made to WFB I could no longer keep up maintaining my many armies. So what I did was change them all to HotT (Hordes of the Things) armies. I think it worked out OK in the end.
Tuesday night is usually my Napoleonics night but my children are working and my wife and distressed me, so I'm playing a solo game with myself. Firstly to reacquaint myself with the rules, I haven't played a game since early 2000 sometime.
So the Undead were:
1 x Knight (General)
2 x Knights
1 x Rider
4 x Spear
4 x Horde
1 x Behemoth
The Human Imperials were:
1 x Knight (General)
1 x Knight
2 x Riders
2 x Shooters
2 x Blade
1 x Warband
1 x Aerial Hero
Below are shots of the action.

The Undead Army
The Human Imperials
Just after 1st turn. Deployment.
First serious combat.
The Aerial Hero takes on the Behemoth and forces it to recoil.
Meanwhile on the right flank the cavalry were hacking to and fro.
Holes appearing.
The death. The shooters caused the Behemoth to recoil, it couldn't and was destroyed.
This gave the Human Imperials the victory.

EPIC: Ultramarines
Thanks to some friends at the Blind Pig Club I have found a spark of inspiration to start painting again. I played last club meet Adeptus Titanicus and it was a blast. This stirred me onto relooking at my EPIC armies. All my other armies are directed to NetEPIC (which I prefer), so I've found enough figures to make a Epic:Armageddon Ultramine army. Still a work in progress but you can see it's mainly infantry to paint now. Sodding bloody infantry...
Those below are my Titans.

Tuesday Night Napoleonics
My little dash of happiness (even if I don't win) for the week. Prussians versus those dastardly french (yes I always use lower case to refer to them). Two games had on the night - 1600 points based on the WRG rules. First game I called as the terrain really screwed me over and I just crumpled. Second game was closer but I think it would have ended in a french victory although it was called a draw.
Two batteries of artillery really put a crimp in my day (or night in this case). Any attempts of the cavalry to rush the guns would have spelled disaster. So a slow slog of infantry in column to chase them off was only half successful. It also left my flanks somewhat open to pernicious french attention. Thanks as always to my friend Andrew Ross for entertaining me.

Napoleonics in play - A Win!
OK I am down to having to use my video camera to take photo's which means the quality is not great, but at least you can get the feel of why Napoleonics can be seen as a fun period to play.
This was my Prussians versus a British force. The British list included some odd pieces of ordinance, a rocket battery and mortar team. The terrain placement was constricting, which I think helped me, as it hampered the British cavalry which I always seem to have problems trying to deal with.
So I recorded a rare win! Thanks to my regular Tuesday night opponent Andrew. I'm sure my win was just an aberration.
