Veer-Myn Completed.

Finished.
So that's 6 Strikers, and 2 Guards. All I need for the Veer-Myn team. Looking at the left over humans from Starship Troopers and thinking they'd make a decent team. Might have enough torso left, I have 5 Tau torsos that might work.
So I think these 8 figures from concept, assembly and painted/varnished was about 6 maybe 7 hours total. Need to keep a track of just how long it takes me.
I do confess that finishing these has taken the edge of my dark mood.

Veer-Myn Update

So much to do and so little time to do it in.

Veer-Myn for Dreadball

As a pensioner, there is never enough money.  So I've cobbled together my own figures for the Veer-Myn for Dreadball.  Here's the work in progress.



The initial six strikers.  They are made up from GW Skaven and the plastic torso and shoulder pads from the Starship Toopers infantry by Mongoose. I also used the Space Marine shoulder pads from 40K.

I did not like the shoulder pads in the end and pulled them off in favour of all Starship Trooper pads.

The Guards are made from GW Skaven Stormvermin.  Very little change done.  Removed some pouches and some symbols.  Otherwise they will do for the moment.

Uncharted Seas Tournament 5th October 2013

So another Uncharted Seas Tournament has been sailed (run) and won.  Thank you to everyone who turned up and played.  Thank you to Bec for the wonderful work she does in making the trophies for this event. I (John McD) appreciate the support.

I'm thinking of running the event in the first part of the year, allowing the Blind Pig to have two "trade mark" tournaments spaced out.  I'd like to hear your thoughts about whether this is a good idea.

Just a few Dr Who novels, just a few!

Just some of my books.  It's getting close to rainy season here in Brisbane, and with the rain comes the constant flooding of my lower level.  My lair gets damp.  So I have to annually check my collections, to ensure they are safe and that vermin haven't invaded.  I've found chests of draws make the best book cases.  They keep the dust and most vermin out and allows for easy access.

Recently I participated in the annual tournament to remember a fellow wargamer who passed away - Geoff Jose.  I think this is the 7th year?  Anyway here are photo's of my opponents, all of them wonderful people.

Gladiator!

Many moons ago I painted some of the many gladiators.  I never got very far with them as I needed a solid board to play on.  Thanks to BP Laser I was able to get a custom cut and etched board for my gladiator games.

 

 

Above are the collection of painted gladiators.  Spent ages trying to sort them into their classes, not as easy as it seemed.  Still think I got a few wrong.

Above is the custom cut and etched board that BP Laser produced for me.  Measures 2'x2'.  It's great that I can just collapse it after use and carry it anywhere I like.  It's on 3mm thick MDF.  The hexes are 30mm.  Now just have to paint it to get that bloody sand look.

 

The figures are a mostly Foundry, and are 28/30mm.  They are based on 30mm bases and all I did for the base texture was to pour in PVA Glue and Kindergarten Sand with a mix of small pebbles.

 

Still debating on what rules to run with.  To date I have 4 sets which I will have to have a read of and decide which one I like the best.  Maybe I'll mesh some of them together and see what I come up with!
